My name is Stephanie (you can call me Steph) and I am so excited to join the New Heights community as the 7-12 English Language Arts teacher! I graduated from Drake University in 2015 with a BA in English and a BA in Journalism. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Literature and English Studies with a graduate certificate in teaching writing from Minnesota State University-Mankato. I have a bit of an interesting career background. Before making the switch to teaching, I worked in marketing and communications in the nonprofit world. I worked for several years at Special Olympics and then at a disability organization in St. Paul.
Like I tell my students, I am a huge literature nerd. I get really excited when I start talking about any type of text, whether it’s Hamlet or Pride and Prejudice. My favorite novel of all time is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. There’s so much literature can teach us about the human experience and I strive to bring that message into the classroom every day.
In my free time I love to read, go to the movies, play tennis, and spend time with my fiancé and dog, Cooper.
I look forward to meeting all of you!
