Special Education

I am excited to be a part of the team at New Heights School as a Special Education Teacher. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2009 and spent most of my time thereafter working in the corporate world as a project manager. In 2017, after years of research and consideration, I decided to make a career shift and pursue a Master’s in Special Education. I began teaching full time in January of 2020 in a self-contained special education classroom where I provided my 1st and 2nd grade students with all academic instruction and social skills education. The decision to pursue a more meaningful and rewarding career in special education has easily been the best decision I have made for my future thus far. Helping each student reach their goals and recognize their potential for success is a truly fulfilling experience that I get to partake in every day. I live in Oakdale, MN with my 7-year-old daughter who is in 2nd grade. In our free time we love exploring the countless hiking trails of Minnesota and surrounding states. During summer vacation, we can usually be found on, in or next to a lake, river or pool appreciating the sun, swimming, and enjoying being outdoors. We are also regulars at the Minnesota Zoo, the Science Museum, and the Children’s Museum. We welcome new adventures, love spending time with our friends and family, and are proud (though usually heartbroken) Vikings fans!
