Special Education
J. DuFresne

My role at New Heights includes working with students with Special Education needs and their families. In addition, I am the Work-Based Learning Coordinator, and teach the Work Experience Seminar class offered to Juniors and Seniors.

In 1999, I received my bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Since then, I have pursued a Master’s Degree (University of Minnesota), and several additional teaching licenses (University of St. Thomas & Bemidji State University).

I began teaching in 2000 at Humboldt High School in St. Paul, where I worked with students with Cognitive Disabilities and Autism. I then worked at North High School in North St. Paul for 3 years with students with Learning Disabilities.

I am very excited to be part of New Heights! In fact I am not only a teacher, but also the parent of a student. My husband and I decided the small class sizes and community-like feel at New Heights was the way to go for our school-aged child! If you like what you see on the website, I encourage you to call and schedule an informational meeting with our principal, Mr. Kearney. New Heights just might be the place your family has been looking for!
